We got fabulous feedback from last year’s festivals’ audience-members and participants, here are just a few of the lovely things that were said…
‘Greenhorn presents a meeting place and merging forum for ideas and creativity.’
‘Variety, surprise, experimentation!’
‘Completely unexpected and brilliant evening.’

We’re just getting our breath back after a fabulous Greenhorn 2013! What a fantastic Festival we had this year. A big thank you to everyone who took part and came along: Chocolate Films, our fabulous panel, fantastic filmmakers, Ear Cinema, The Cabinet of Living Cinema, Whirlygig Cinema, all our Triceratops Champions and our tireless volunteers! We couldn’t have done it without you.
Check out our to patron Mike Leigh modelling our merchandise!
We are excited to announce that Mike Leigh has just become Greenhorn’s Patron. He will be opening our screening event on Sunday 6 October and presenting our Young Greenhorn Film Award winner their certificate.
Mike Leigh says of Greenhorn Short Film Festival:
Greenhorn is stimulating, original, healthily anarchic and sharp as a row of needles. In short, a breath of fresh air.

We have just launched our Kickstarter campaign and need your help spreading the word!
Kickstarter – Greenhorn 2013
Greenhorn’s ethos is to keep the festival accessible for filmmakers and audience members alike. It is completely free for filmmakers to submit to Greenhorn and ticket prices for events are kept affordable. We are a self-funded non profit organisation on the cusp of expansion, however to enable us to maintain the current quality of programming as well as making bold programming choices we need your help.
Greenhorn has come so far in the last three years and for this year’s festival we are adding an extra date and an experimental new cinematic event. We have teamed up with The Cabinet and Ear Cinema to challenge the audience’s perception of what cinema can be. If we reach our Kickstarter goal we will be able to fund this new and exciting event, creating a festival finale with a twist. We are also hoping to add a practical and hands-on Final Cut Pro X workshop to offer new learning opportunities for our filmmakers.
Tell your friends, share on facebook, tweet, get a soap box in speakers corner – whatever your favoured method of communication get the word out there and get Greenhorn on the map.
We are now accepting submissions for our FREE one-on-one Scriptwriting consultations on Sunday 6th October.
These sessions will be very kindly run by London Film School‘s MA Scriptwriting tutor Jonathan Hourigan, who is a graduate of Oxford University and the National Film and Television School. He has also been assistant to Robert Bresson on L’Argent and is a writer, director, script consultant and teacher.
Early-career scriptwriters will have the opportunity to gain valuable and constructive feedback on their scripts. This can be a script that is still in early development or a completed script that you’d like to polish off before filming. To submit your script for a consultation slot please visit our submissions page.
We are super excited to announce the opening of our submissions for the Young Greenhorn Film Award 2013 (in partnership with Ideas Tap), open to talented filmmakers aged between 16-25.
